After her resignation, Bestwick will continue to be involved with the company in a non-executive role.
Debbie Bestwick will resign from her position as CEO of Team17 after finding a suitable successor, the company revealed.
According to Team17's statement (via GamesIndustry.biz), the company is currently searching for potential candidates from both internal and external sources. After her resignation, Bestwick will continue to be involved with the company in a non-executive role, serving on Team17's board and providing "mentorship, support, and guidance."
The announcement that Bestwick had decided to step down was made on March 28, with the executive explaining that she wished to dedicate more time to her family.
"This has probably been the hardest decision I’ve made, but I wouldn’t have made it if I wasn’t confident in the succession plans and the leadership team’s ability to deliver the clear and focused strategy regarding our collective goals and ambitions," Bestwick said.
"Ultimately, I want to spend more time with my children who have made sacrifices many times during my career and specifically to spend more time with my youngest before he goes to university."
Bestwick has been at the helm of Team17 since 1986, four years after she co-founded the company after merging publisher 17-Bit Software (which she co-led) with developer Team 7.
