Visit Vizima from 16 Years Ago with the Witcher 3 REDkit Modding Tool

Jump on the time machine of The Witcher 3 REDkit and revisit places in memory from the very first game in this franchise.

As you might already know, the Witcher 3 REDkit, a powerful modding tool for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, was released on May 21st. Available for all PC owners of the game, this tool enables players to customize and expand in-game content, creating new experiences or altering existing ones.

You can imagine what has happened with its update — think about Black Friday shoppers stampeding through the store doors the moment they open.

Carolin Wendt, the Communications Manager of CD Projekt Red, issued a challenge via Twitter to everyone experimenting with the game's new modding tools:

The community certainly won't let her down. One user, known as AngryCatster on Nexus Mods and qwerthjhjky on YouTube, recreated Vizima from the original game. The modder stated:

"A fairly low-effort attempt at porting maps from the first witcher game via REDkit. There is a LOT of room for improvement when it comes to improving the visuals of these maps. Also, some objects got a bit scuffed during the porting process."

Telling from the comments under the video, this impressive work has stirred feelings of nostalgia among players, transporting them back to the "good, old days" when they first met the Witcher series.

It was just a few hours after CD Projekt Red announced the release of the Redkit, AngryCatster posted "The Witcher 1 Maps" on Nexus Mods. This mod, featuring several locations from the 2007 original game, upgraded with The Witcher 3’s superior textures and lighting, now offers players a tour of classic maps including Vizima dike, Temple quarter, Trade quarter, and Old Vizima.

It's been just two days since the launch of The Witcher 3 REDkit and we can definitely look forward to coming of the "weirdest, boldest, and most fan fiction-y mods."
