A Look at "Screen Space Fog Scattering" Shader for UE5

The shader is being developed by the author of the Sky Creator plug-in Dmitry Karpukhin.

Over the past couple of months, Technical Artist Dmitry Karpukhin, known to many as the developer of Sky Creator, an Unreal Engine plug-in to control dynamic weather and time of day, has been working on a brand-new project currently known as "Screen Space Fog Scattering". According to a series of showcases shared by the author via Twitter, Screen Space Fog Scattering is a neat post-processing shader for Unreal Engine 5, capable of blurring the areas affected by dense fog.

At the moment, the shader is still WIP, with the most recent update making it compatible with UE5's Height Fog, allowing one to tweak the Height Fog settings for the shader to work automatically where needed:
