Abby Actress in The Last of Us Needed Extra Security

Some people have to be reminded Abby is not real.

Naughty Dog

The Last of Us Part 2 drew out a lot of negative feelings from players, not because of its gameplay but because of plot decisions. I think Abby doing something not good was the worst of them, at least from many fans' standpoint, so she because the most hated character in the franchise.

Unfortunately, not everyone is able to separate fantasy from reality, and Kaitlyn Dever, who plays Abby in the second season of HBO's The Last of Us, learned it the hard way. According to her co-star Isabela Merced, who we will see as Dina, Dever needed additional security while filming because of fans.

"There's so many strange people in this world," Merced said during the Happy Sad Confused podcast. "There are people that actually genuinely hate Abby, who is not a real person. Just a reminder, not a real person. And so, Kaitlyn had to be extra secured by security when it came to the filming of this."

Hopefully, Dever will be able to get through this as she "does not get phased by things," as Merced said. Still, some people really need to go touch grass. Actually, in this case, maybe it's better to just stay at home and reflect.

Crazy "fans" have also been harassing Jocelyn Mettler, the face model for Abby, sending her horrible messages, and it's terrifying and pathetic.

I hope both Dever and Mettler will get through this unscathed, although I'm afraid it's only the beginning, as Season 2 hasn't revealed to the mass audience why they could hate Abby.

The new adventure starts on HBO in 2025. Watch the Happy Sad Confused podcast here and join our 80 Level Talent platform and our Telegram channel, follow us on InstagramTwitterLinkedInTikTok, and Reddit, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
