Amusing Before/After Comparison of Arcane's Official Poster

Yet another proof that every piece of art is born from scribbles.

Video games, big-budget movies, 3D animations, Blocktober showcases – by now it is no secret that when presented the right way, early iterations and WIP shots, usually hidden by creators behind the curtain, can be just as entertaining and awe-inspiring as the final products themselves, and, as it turns out, the same rule applies to posters as well.

Digital Artist known as Name Jr has recently gone viral on Twitter for demonstrating how one of the original Arcane posters they created for Netflix France looked during its concept phase. Instead of detailed character illustrations and polished effects, the rough sketch features simple outlines and stick figures representing the key points of interest, such as the broken cog in the background and Ekko in the middle. While it was by no means unexpected for the sketch to resemble a bunch of scribbles, actually seeing it with one's own eyes and comparing it to the final piece is nothing short of fascinating.

Besides this one, Name Jr also created two other Arcane posters for Netflix, and given the attention this under-the-hood showcase has received, I can't help but hope that the early versions of the other two will also be unveiled in the near future:

Previously, the artist also worked on posters for Kung Fu Panda 4, WALL-E, Up, Oppenheimer, La La Land, and countless other movies, games, and TV shows. We highly encourage you to visit Name Jr's Twitter and Instagram pages to see their full portfolio.
