The first episode will be co-written by Mike McMahan, Star Trek: Lower Decks creator, and Joe Chandler, a producer for American Dad. These two industry veterans will also serve as executive producers for the series, with Chandler taking on the role of showrunner.

The duo plans to revitalize the classic side-scrolling beat 'em up arcade game with a 10-episode series. Fans will see their favorite characters embark on a new journey; veteran warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare, and Gilius Thunderhead will once again strive to rescue Yuria from the relentless Death Adder, with the support of novice Hampton Squib.

Golden Axe, which debuted in 1989, swiftly expanded into a franchise with four main games and numerous spin-offs. In January, Sega confirmed that they are developing new games for their classic franchises, including Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Crazy Taxi, and Golden Axe.
