The game can now be playtested on Steam.
Embark Studios, a gamedev studio founded by Patrick Söderlund, the former Executive Vice President at EA and CEO of DICE, has released the first gameplay trailer for THE FINALS, the team's upcoming multiplayer PvP shooter, showcasing some pre-alpha footage from the game.
According to the trailer, the game will feature high-octane combat with lots of neat movement mechanics, parkour, and the ability to slide on ropes, a sizable arsenal of weaponry for players to choose from, the ability to telekinetically move objects and throw them at your opponents, destructible buildings, and more. On top of that, THE FINALS promises to include a fun little quirk that turns players into gold coins upon death, a mechanic similar to old-school shooters.
"Join THE FINALS, the world-famous, free-to-play, combat-centered game show! Fight alongside your teammates in virtual arenas that you can alter, exploit, and even destroy. Build your own playstyle in this first-person shooter to win escalating tournaments and lasting fame," commented the developers.
With this trailer, the team also announced that the game will become available to playtest via Steam on September 29, 2022. You can learn more about the game and request playtest access here.
