Epic to Launch Fortnite & Other Mobile Games on Dev-Friendly Stores

Meanwhile, they will offer developers an attractive deal on the Epic Games Store.

Fortnite

Epic Games has announced that Fortnite is slated for a return to iOS in the European Union soon via AltStore and they will make the Epic Games Store available on Android worldwide and iOS in the European Union, offering developers an impressive store fee of 12% for payments processed by Epic Games, and 0% for third-party payments.

In a statement outlining their new strategy for mobile stores, Epic Games revealed they plan to distribute their mobile games, including Fortnite, to other mobile stores that "give all developers a great deal." Coupled with this move, they also declared their intent to terminate distribution partnerships with "mobile stores that serve as rent collectors without competing robustly and serving all developers fairly" even if those stores offer Epic a special deal for their games.

“As operators of the Epic Games Store, we'll take advantage of this opportunity to bring all developers a great deal on our store. And as game developers ourselves, we want to do everything we can to support other stores that strive to bring all developers their own great deals.”

To conclude, Epic announced that Fortnite and other Epic Games titles will depart from the Samsung Galaxy Store. This decision is a protest against Samsung's alleged anti-competitive practices of blocking side-loading by default on its Android devices, further inflamed by revelations of ongoing Google proposals to Samsung revealed in the US Epic v Google lawsuit.
