Fan Managed to Play Marvel Rivals on Nintendo 3DS

There is a huge "but", though.

Playing modern games on platforms that don't support them originally is pointless most of the time, but it's a flex and simply proof you can do it (just ask DOOM). Marvel Rivals and Nintendo 3DS were not meant to be together, but Redditor Akirotan took it as a challenge.

He released a video of himself playing the game on the device, and it works surprisingly well, although the quality is understandably low. The sticks rotate decently, and the buttons help with functionality. You can also use the touchpad to aim: the arrows on the bottom screen provide different interfaces.

"Controls work well except for the fact that I can't aim," the creator said. Oh, and the FPS is very low, so don't expect any miracles.

There is just a little catch: Marvel Rivals in the demonstration is not ported, it is streamed from a PC with the Moonlight game streaming client, an open-source implementation of NVIDIA's GameStream protocol. This makes the project much less impressive, but it's still pretty cool.

There are plenty of jokes about your teammates using the Nintendo 3DS to play, but hopefully, Akirotan doesn't try this in ranked games.

If you want to see other experiments, check out DOOM running in Houdini and Half-Life 2 played with 8 MB of VRAM.
