Here's How to Create Photorealistic Rainy Scenes in Unreal Engine 5

A new tutorial from Amit Das covers the working process behind a realistic rainy environment.

Amit Das, a 3D Artist, Game Developer, and owner of the Magnet VFX YouTube channel, continues to share his expertise on Unreal Engine with a new comprehensive guide explaining how to create rainy scenes in the engine.

In his latest tutorial, Amit provided a step-by-step breakdown of the Rainy Day project showcased above, explaining how the environment was set up, demonstrating the use of Everett Gunther's Ultra Dynamic Sky add-on for rain effects, and sharing the rendering pipeline. You can watch the full tutorial embedded below or by clicking this link.

For those unfamiliar, Ultra Dynamic Sky is a sky system designed to be more dynamic and natural than most sky solutions, offering a great degree of flexibility and customization options with an interface designed for speed and simplicity.

The system features a fully dynamic sky, with customizable clouds, moon, and stars, a built-in lighting solution with sun, moon, and sky lighting all synced with the sky, the capabilities to adjust cloud coverage from a clear sky to overcast and animate a day/night cycle with a single click, dynamic aurora effects, multiplayer support, Ultra Dynamic Weather, a full weather system for creating rain, snow, and lightning, and much more. You can learn more and download the system by visiting the UE Marketplace.

And here are some of Amit's earlier guides. We highly recommend visiting the Magnet VFX YouTube channel to check out more beginner tutorials on Unreal Engine:
