In-Depth Tutorial: Ultimate Photogrammetry Course

FastTrack tutorials have launched a new Ultimate Photogrammetry Course, which will allow you to dive into photo-scanned content and get a grasp on its numerous aspects.

During this 10+ hours course, you will be learning a lot about professional techniques, tips, and tricks in photogrammetry that the creators have been gathering for over 3 years while doing their thorough research. During the course, you'll have a chance to work closer with tools like ZBrush, RealityCapture, Substance 3D Painter, Unity ArtEngine, Marmoset Toolbag 4, 3ds Max, Maya, or Blender.

This course is prepared and mentored by Emiel Sleegers, a Lead Environment Artist and Material Artist, who worked on countless projects either as an individual artist, or a part of a team, for example, in games like The Division 2 + DLC at Ubisoft, Forza Horizon 3 at Playground Games.

Speaking of the tutorials, there will be 46 videos which are divided into chapters. The chapters are cohesively organized, so you don't need to worry about being lost in the tons of information, you can easily find whatever you want.

Covering an extensive range of topics, this tutorial offers in-depth insights into numerous aspects:

  • Vertical Surface Scanning: you will learn how to effectively scan different types of vertical surfaces using a professional camera and a gimbal;
  • Ground Surface Scanning: you will explore techniques for scanning ground surfaces using an advanced rig with a tripod, specialized lights, and a camera. Also, you'll have a chance to discover a quicker and easier approach using a gimbal and camera;
  • Scanning Organic and Urban Objects: this will allow you to gain valuable knowledge on scanning both organic and urban objects while transforming them into game-ready assets;
  • Photometric Stereo Scanning: in this tutorial, we'll learn the process of scanning leaves and small foliage using photometric stereo. A bonus workflow for scanning leaves and branches outdoors is also included.
  • Turntable Scanning: this tutorial will let you dive into the methodology of scanning small to medium-scale objects using an automated turntable setup;
  • Tree Scanning and Processing: thanks to this chapter, you can witness a comprehensive demonstration of scanning an entire tree and processing the scanned leaves and branches to create a fully optimized game-ready tree;
  • Mobile Scanning: in this chapter, you'll be able to unlock the potential of object scanning using your mobile phone, comparing the results to those obtained with a DSLR camera.

The overall goal of this tutorial is to equip you with advanced expertise in creating diverse forms of photogrammetry content, thereby elevating your artistic endeavors to new horizons.
