Microsoft Reportedly Considered Bringing Gears of War and Next Doom to PS5 & Switch

We should also be ready for "the largest technical leap" in a hardware generation.

We already know about Xbox's plans to "share" its games with PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Soon, we should see four previously exclusive games on other consoles, and sources say they will be Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded.

But these are not the only titles Microsoft has considered when setting up the roster. According to The Verge, Microsoft has thought about bringing Gears of War, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and the next Doom game (probably Doom Year Zero sighted in Microsoft's documents) to PS5 and Switch. It hasn't been decided yet, but we are bound to see more ex-exclusives on other consoles.

Spencer says the company's next steps will be influenced by fans' reactions to the releases: “We know today when people are playing, their affinity for their platform is as much about their friends and where their games library is as it is any kind of one exclusive game. I know there’s this fictitious world where people think that one exclusive game kind of kicks off the sales of a platform, but the industry just doesn’t really work that way today.”

But new games are not the only topic fans are interested in – what about new Xbox consoles? Xbox president Sarah Bond promised "some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday." The Xbox team is focused on delivering "the largest technical leap that you will have ever seen in a hardware generation." Sounds ambitious. Hopefully, Microsoft really has something exciting to show.
