Less than a week after Redfall's first anniversary, Microsoft has shut down its developer Arkane Austin, as well as Tango Gameworks, the studio behind acclaimed titles like Hi-Fi Rush and The Evil Within, as reported by IGN and Bloomberg's Jason Schreier.

According to the reports, the cuts were announced in an internal email from Matt Booty, Head of Xbox Game Studios, to the employees. IGN verified the authenticity of the email, which attributed the cuts to a "reprioritization of titles and resources". with the company aiming to "identify the opportunities that are best positioned for success".

Alongside Tango and Arkane, Alpha Dog Studios, developer of the mobile game Mighty Doom, will also close, while Roundhouse Games, known for its contribution to The Elder Scrolls Online, will be absorbed by ZeniMax Online Studios.

"Today I'm sharing changes we are making to our Bethesda and ZeniMax teams," the email reads. "These changes are grounded in prioritizing high-impact titles and further investing in Bethesda's portfolio of blockbuster games and beloved worlds which you have nurtured over many decades. To double down on these franchises and invest to build new ones requires us to look across the business to identify the opportunities that are best positioned for success. This reprioritization of titles and resources means a few teams will be realigned to others and that some of our colleagues will be leaving us."

Following the initial reports, both Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks have verified that the cuts did indeed happen, with the former specifying that there will be no further updates for Redfall, including those already in development:

Does this mean Arkane Austin and Tango's devs are going to work on a new Fallout?
