Minecraft Movie Teaser Trailer Is Here

It's... something.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have released a teaser trailer for the Minecraft movie starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black. We can finally see how Black fits the role of Steve, and I'm sure you'll have some strong thoughts about it.

"Four misfits ... find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve. Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative… the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world."

I'm definitely not the movie's target audience, so my skepticism could be disregarded, but considering the comments on YouTube, the creators might not receive the attention they hope for.

It looks like the movie is trying hard to be funny, but it's this kind of humor that got the Borderlands film its horrible reputation, so I'm kind of morbidly fascinated to see how it goes when the Minecraft movie is released on April 4, 2025.

Then again, perhaps the game's fans will enjoy its questionable CGI and quirkiness, I wouldn't know.
