NVIDIA Will Finalize RTX 5080 & RTX 5090 Designs This Month

GeForce RTX 5090 is rumored to have a TGP of 550 W or 600 W.

NVIDIA keeps working on its GPUs, and we might soon see the first glimpses of GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080.

According to Benchlife (via PC Gamer), the designs for the "D" variants for the Chinese market will be finalized in September. More information about the GPUs based on the Blackwell architecture should soon be available online.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series is expected to debut at CES 2025, held on January 7-10, 2025, if the machine-translated Benchlife article is right (but don't bet on it too much, this is a confusing piece for those who don't know Chinese.)

The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are said to have a TGP (total graphics power) of 550 W and 350 W, respectively, according to Benchlife, even though there have been rumors of them consuming 600 W and 400 W before.

Benchlife

"Maybe the 400W and 600W figures refer to the heatsink's maximum cooling capacity. In reality, the TGP for the GeForce RTX 5090 and GeForce RTX 5080 might be 550W and 350W, respectively," Benchlife wrote, adding that its sources said there was a canceled 400 W NVIDIA cooling module project and an existing 600 W one. "The module manufacturer confirmed that NVIDIA currently has five GeForce RTX graphics card projects in progress."

The RTX 5090 is said to have 640 tensor cores, 28 GB of GDDR7 memory, and a frequency of 2235 MHz. The RTX 5080 boasts 336 tensor cores and 16 GB of GDDR7 memory, working at 2235 MHz.

We will see what the reality is soon enough if the information above is right.
