This game presents a literally "fast-paced" environment.
Twitter user osuika, who is a developer primarily known for creating games for Playdate, has shared new footage from their latest project called Office Chair Curling.
The video showcases an office chair being pushed around an office space with a person seated on it, gliding like billiard balls on a pool table. As characters move around, amusing speech bubbles reveal their thoughts, like "Not what I had in mind when they said 'fast-paced' environment."
The game features distinctive black-and-white pixel graphics, fitting seamlessly with its intended platform — the Playdate. This unique handheld gaming device, developed by Panic, the publishers of Firewatch and Untitled Goose GameThus, is known for its small size, yellow color, and built-in hand crank used as a control in some games.
Earlier tweets from the developer revealed freshly added in-game features, including a mop and human passengers. The gameplay involves cleaning the floor using the mop while moving on the chair, reminding me of elements in Splatoon where you earn higher points for covering more area. It also shows a points circle akin to a dartboard, which could work as a scoring system for the game:
The cover art humorously illustrates the number of office chairs likely to be consumed in the game:
When asked about a release date, the creator replied optimistically: "Soon, hopefully!" The game is expected to launch on both itch.io and the Playdate catalog. If you like this game, we encourage you to follow the developer on Twitter to receive updates about it.
