Samurai Soulslike Game Inspired by Berserk, H.P. Lovecraft & Stephen King

Phantom Blade Zero will offer over 30 secondary weapons.

Several days ago, S-Game released a new trailer for Phantom Blade Zero, its upcoming samurai Soulslike with Chinese cultural elements. There, you'll see a battle between the two main characters in an anime style, which precedes the action of the "kung-fu-punk" game, and a glimpse of its actual gameplay, powered by Unreal Engine 5.

In an interview with eXputer, the developers revealed some details about the project, apparently inspired by the 80s-90s Hong Kong kung-fu movies, Berserk, Claymore, horror movies, the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King, and more.

They call it a "deep, dark fantasy with a mature and mysterious style" set in a Wuxia world revolving around martial artists in ancient China.

If you love sword fighting, you'll probably enjoy this game: S-Game shared that it's prepared several types of main weapons and over 30 secondary weapons, "they are two different systems that can’t replace one another."

How your story ends in Phantom Blade Zero is not set in stone: there will be multiple endings depending on your choices and "ways of finishing the game."

Some players will be able to check the game out earlier than others as S-Game wants to offer a 30-minute demo to a certain group of people invited from its social media later this year. The team is eager to get feedback, but the demo doesn't mean Phantom Blade Zero will hit the market soon; there is still no release date for it.

However, the studio already has another original IP about universe exploration and combat in space, but it didn't offer any more information: "Let’s focus on Phantom Blade first."

PBZ will be released for PlayStation 5 and PC when S-Game is done with development and testing.
