A room full of Blue Rupees in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and a cheery message in Fallout 3 are my favorites.
I'm one of those players who explore every corner of every game, trying to find a hidden item or message, but the best kind of delight is a secret that is almost impossible to come by without knowing it's there.
The X/Twitter user KirbyCheatFurby decided to collect "obscure video game secrets" in one thread so more people would learn about interesting details in their favorite titles.
If you're a hardcore fan of any of those, I'm sure you know everything already and might not consider these facts obscure, but it's still fun to find some new ways to experience the game you like.
One of my favorite secrets from this thread is Chris Houlihan's room full of Blue Rupees in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. According to Zelda Wiki, it is a "failsafe that the game sends Link to when it detects an error in his Y coordinate." You can try to get there using Pegasus Shoes or Bombs.
Interestingly, the message "My name is Chris Houlihan. This is my top secret room. Keep it between us, OK?" appears in the English version of the game only, others just say it's a secret room.
Another fun detail is a door in Fallout 3 that has nothing behind it except for a sweet message on the wall. This is not exactly a secret perhaps, but still a curious find.
Also, did you know you should give some Nitro boxes a chance in Crash Bandicoot 2? There are nitro stairs that lead to a bonus level, according to user ElliXia:
Here are some other secrets you might find curious:
We also know that sprinting doesn't actually make your horse move faster in Dragon Age: Inquisition, which is more of a developer choice than a game secret, same as with GTA 3 slowing you down intentionally.
