PlayStation 5 has been around for quite some time, but you can never get it with a discount unless it comes in a bundle. Or you couldn't before, as Sony is finally bringing PS5's first standalone sale.
As noticed by IGN, you can buy PS5 for $449.99 (10% off) in the US, £399.99 in the UK, and €459.99 in Germany. US citizens can get the console from Monoprice only for now, but it's possible other outlets will join the sale soon. PlayStation 5's accessories and games have already dropped in price in the UK, so maybe more people will get to enjoy the ride.
The sales are coming soon after the peak of PlayStation 5 Slim rumors, which have been around since last year. During the Microsoft vs. FTC hearing, a document was revealed stating Sony is planning to release Slim later this year at a lower price. So maybe it's all connected, and we'll see the new console in the coming months.
At the same time, Sony earlier reported that PS5's sales surpassed 40 million units – a number a bit lower than PS4 achieved, but if we do see more discounts for current-gen consoles, I think it will grow fast, especially with Slim on the market.
