RizomUV 2024 Brings Streamlined UV Mapping & Enhanced UI

Described as the biggest update since 2018, the release introduces robust trimsheet functionalities, improved transform tools, viewport updates, and much more.

Rizom-Lab has released RizomUV 2024, a new and improved version of the popular UV mapping 3D software, described by the developers as the tool's most significant upgrade since 2018. Packed with innovative features designed to enhance user experience and streamline the UV mapping process, the release introduces an enhanced UI, robust trimsheet functionalities, improved transform tools, viewport updates, and much more.

One of the key new features in RizomUV 2024 is the improved UI. With this release, the software now supports HDPI with variable DPI on all platforms, eliminating blurry UI elements. A full UI scaling and zoom setting allows users to customize their workspace to their preference, while the new viewport contextual menu facilitates quick changes to primitive and editing modes, as well as locking, grouping, and tagging.

Another notable enhancement is the addition of robust trimsheet functionalities that enable users to load and export trims layouts using various file formats, including PNG, BMP, TGA, and SVG. Trims can be locked, reshaped, transformed, and tagged, offering unparalleled control over the UV mapping process. The new hotspotting feature allows for precise matching of islands to trims based on area, aspect ratio, tags, and circular shapes. This feature also includes real-time updates, customizable display options, and sophisticated pre-processing capabilities.

RizomUV 2024's transformation capabilities have seen substantial enhancements thanks to the addition of new tools for groups, stacks, and trims, which enable comprehensive transformations, including fitting, aligning, and distributing UV elements.

Moreover, the software's viewport has undergone significant improvements, featuring shortest path functionality for polygons and enhanced snapping options. The new sharpness histogram for edges and the independent luminant texture mode for viewports further increase the versatility and power of the UV editing environment.

Additionally, RizomUV 2024 includes a refined auto seams tool that can read polygon geo normals or user vertex normals. The packing process has been optimized with improved orientation algorithms and more intuitive scale settings.

Additional features include the RizomUVLink Python modules for versions 3.11 and 3.12, the ability to export island borders in DXF files, improved export options, including PNG files with transparent backgrounds, normalize and unnormalize tools, along with tile scaling and offset fields that provide more control over UV transformations.
