Stylized Ghibli-Inspired Water Effect in After Effects

The author has also shared a video guide explaining how the effect was made.

2D Animator and Motion Designer Seter MD has taken the internet by storm this weekend with an absolutely impeccable stylized water visual effect inspired by Studio Ghibli's iconic 2001 animated film, Spirited Away.

According to the author, the effect in question was set up entirely in After Effects, Adobe's digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application, with the help of Displacer Pro, a free add-on for AE. In addition to showcasing this stunning FX, Seter MD also provided a comprehensive video guide detailing the production process behind it, along with the project file to help you easily recreate the effect yourself.
