Unannounced Apex Legends Game Has Reportedly Been Canceled by EA

The project's developers have been reassigned or laid off.

In case you missed it, yesterday, Electronic Arts announced that it is shutting down Apex Legends Mobile and ceasing the development of Battlefield Mobile, stating that the game "fell short" of the studio's bar for quality and quantity. This, however, is seemingly not the end of the story, as the recently published report indicated that ALM is not the only game in the Apex Legends/Titanfall universe that has been canceled by the publisher.

As reported by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, the studio has also canceled an unannounced Apex Legends game that has been in development at EA's Respawn Entertainment, reassigning most of the developers to other projects and firing the rest. The same report also stated that the canceled game's codename was TFL (Titanfall Legends) and that it could've been the sequel to Respawn's 2016 Titanfall 2.

Unfortunately, the reason for the game's cancelation has not been disclosed, leaving that up for speculation. Some suggest that last year's departure of Respawn's Creative Director Mohammad Alavi left the team without leadership, while others state that Titanfall 2's sales numbers didn't satisfy EA and pushed them to shut down TFL, the exact cause, however, remains a mystery.
