Windows 11's AI Will Reportedly Scan Your Video & Audio Files

This "intelligent media search" will transcribe your speech.

It seems like Microsoft is planning to let AI go through your video and audio files in Windows 11 in one of the future updates.

As noticed by X/Twitter user Xeno (via TweakTown), the Insider Preview Build 27695 mentions "intelligent media search," which will scan your files and transcribe them so you can find what you need even in speech.

"By clicking 'I agree,' you consent to scanning the media files on your device. If needed, the required model will be downloaded and installed in the background," says the reference. "Once the AI model is set up, it needs to transcribe your media files and index them before enabling content-based search. We'll inform you once the process is complete."

This is likely an update to the Recall feature, which was criticized for taking screenshots of everything users do and thus possibly enabling data leaks. While intelligent media search sounds like a handy tool for finding what you need faster, not everyone will agree to let such an intruder roam their computer.
