First, the update introduces a number of art features including multi-layered microfacet materials to help users recreate a wider range of real-world phenomena like wet surfaces in environments and more.
Also, the engine now features support for area lights which are now a part of CryEngine’s Point Light Component. What is more, there’s the new Inter-Entity Constraint Points Storage system for setting up complex mechanical assemblies.
Among other new feature are a new full-body ragdoll IK system, support for pressurized buoyant cloth, and the option to create ‘ropes’ out of chains of mesh objects.
The new version also brings support for CRI Middleware’s ADX2 audio middleware and instant playback when editing audio, plus a new GUI for authoring NPC AI behaviors.
