Trimflow works like Substance 3D Painter's Path tool but with trims instead of brushes.
Procedural tools work like magic, and you can clearly see it with Trimflow, a Blender add-on by Shape-Shift that adds repeating patterns to objects in a non-destructive way with just a stroke.
As the creator noted, it is similar to Substance 3D Painter's Path tool, but Trimflow uses trims instead of brushes. Just draw a curve onto the surface of a mesh, and it will turn your trim textures into adjustable decals. The baking tool then changes the trim decals into masks. You can use these masks to make materials in Blender or other programs like Substance 3D or Marmoset Toolbag.

You can also mix decals with the material on their target object, which helps when you're rendering in Blender without baking, keeping everything non-destructive.
"Trimflow is able to utilize trims that have Head and Tail pieces at their ends with the seamless, tiling part in between. This optional feature greatly enhances the versatility of trims because they are not just cut off suddenly somewhere anymore."
