Heroes of Might and Magic III's Necropolis Town Recreated in UE5

Shed a single tear of nostalgia by taking a look at Radim "Hurricane" Zeifart's latest masterpiece.

3D Artist Radim "Hurricane" Zeifart, known for his work on World of Warcraft cinematics, has once again paid tribute to the legendary turn-based strategy Heroes of Might and Magic III, unveiling a breathtaking 3D recreation of the game's Necropolis.

The creator shared that the entire production process involved converting Necropolis into a 3D space, populating it with creatures, and adding various environmental effects to enhance the undead atmosphere. In development since 2023, the main focus of the project was to create cinematic-quality characters based on 2D references from HOMM3, with the author noting that it also served as a useful testbed for Unreal Engine 5 workflows.

As for the software, Hurricane utilized Unreal Engine 5, Cinema 4D, OctaneRender, After Effects, and EmberGen, along with Blender, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, Substance 3D Designer, Trapcode Particular, and Quixel Megascans. Additionally, 3D print .stl files of in-game figurines from Psaycrow were used to help remaster the units to cinematic quality.

Earlier, Hurricane also showcased a UE5-powered recreation of HOMM 3's Castle, with the Necropolis Town project envisioned as the continuation of the series:
