Learn How Polyfjord's Mesmerizing Melody Visualizer Was Made

The setup, explained in the artist's latest tutorial, allows you to sync a glowing energy trail to the MIDI song of your choice.

In case you missed the news, a few weeks ago, Digital Artist and YouTuber Asbjørn Lote, a.k.a. Polyfjord, went viral by showcasing his custom-made melody visualizer, which allows one to set up mesmerizing animations of glowing lights jumping from note to note in sync with the music playing in the background.

Recently, the creator provided a much-anticipated update on the project in the form of a comprehensive tutorial explaining how you can recreate the setup yourself using Blender, signal's open-sourced online MIDI editor, and a MIDI-to-SVG converter.

In his guide, Polyfjord detailed the process of creating energy trails with curves and animating them to jump from point to point, discussed how the glowing effect was made, showed how to sync the glowing lights to the MIDI song of your choice, and more. You can watch the full tutorial attached above or by visiting the artist's YouTube channel.

Earlier, the artist also published a great guide explaining how he turned himself into a smoke character using JangaFX's EmberGen, a GPU-based tool for creating real-time smoke, fire, and explosion simulations.

We highly encourage you to follow Polyfjord on YouTube and Instagram to see more of the artist's awesome works.
