These works remind me of a favorite of mine – hyperrealistic crystals made by Arvid Schneider using Houdini as well. It just shows how extremely powerful this software is.
Julien Peronnet has also demonstrated a technique similar to Herrera's, showing the evolution of mankind with a particle cache weighing over 600 GB.
