Photorealistic Train Simulator in Unreal Engine 5 Gets Updated

Solo Developer Rizu continues working on Running Train, a realistic-looking train sim set in rural Japan.

Solo Game Developer known as Rizu has recently provided a highly-anticipated update on Running Train, a work-in-progress train driving simulator with hyperrealistic graphics, revealing a brand-new demo for the upcoming Unreal Engine 5-powered game.

In case you missed it, Running Train first appeared on our radar back in 2023, when Rizu impressed thousands of people with the game's jaw-dropping graphic showcases. Set on a fictitious Takahashi-Hayama Railway, the game lets you step into the shoes of a train operator and enjoy the gorgeous landscapes of rural Japan as they appear in the windows of your trusty engine. With Running Train, the developer plans to push digital realism to a new height and leverage the capabilities of UE5 to make the game's visuals look as realistic as possible.

With the latest demo, the creator revealed that all trains in the game would come with an autopilot feature, granting players the option to let the AI take charge while they themselves marvel at the scenery. "All trains are controlled by AI. Players who are tired of driving can now enjoy the front view," commented Rizu.

And here are some of the earlier demos and screenshots for Running Train shared by the developer:
