This Mod Adds 16K Dragon Textures to Skyrim

Enjoy exploring dragons' scales all over again.

Skyrim is 11 years old this year, yet fans still find ways to improve it. A modder XilaMonstrr presented a mod that retextures dragons from the main game and DLCs to 16K resolution.

The mod offers 4K, 8K, and 16K resolutions to choose from, although you might wonder why you need it in the first place. The creator explains that dragons in the game are very big, so the textures are way too stretched, and with the 16K mod, a dragon's wing is 7380x4020px, a head is 3320x2480px, and the entire rear body and legs are 6080x4580px. If you are fighting a dragon up-close and want to see it in 4K resolution, then you need the dragon to be in 16K.

XilaMonstrr also added downscaled versions for "potato PCs" where the diffuse texture files are larger than normal and environment map files, which reduces VRAM usage while maintaining higher visual quality.

This is an improved version of the original mod by Wrig765/Bellyache and I2edShift, which offers high-definition textures for the ten dragon types of vanilla Skyrim, Dragonborn, and Dawnguard.
