Donut Turning into Football Pitch in Mesmerizing Houdini Animation

No, it's not Blender for once.

Look at Brad Lackey's donut, and you won't be able to turn away – that's how enthralling the animation is. The artist calls it "bendy torus," I call it "donut's insides." Yes, it might be gross, but you can't say you don't imagine it in a horror movie or game.

So yeah, terrifying imagery aside, it's a torus that turns into a soccer field (with balls that look a little like eyes.) The beautiful snakeskin-like texture and motion were created not in Blender, which is by now associated with donuts, but in Houdini – not that surprising considering its animation power.

The project was inspired by Ferry Taswin's spiky torus, which has the same movement but a very different look.
