Level Artist Presents a Warhammer 40K Cinematic Made in UE5

The animation shows how one imagines playing Warhammer tabletop games.

Sergei "Leoluch" Panin, an experienced 3D Artist and Senior Level Artist at Housemarque, has unveiled Next Turn, a gorgeous Warhammer 40K-inspired 3D cinematic created as a personal project to depict the experience of playing Warhammer tabletop games.

Described as a dream project the artist has long desired to create, Next Turn combines photorealistic miniatures with animation and visual effects, resulting in an awesome battle sequence with quality so remarkable that it can easily be mistaken for an official promotional video from Games Workshop. According to Sergei, the cinematic was set up using Maya, Substance 3D Painter, and RealityCapture and rendered entirely in Unreal Engine 5, with a small amount of color grading.

Notably, this is not the first time the artist showcases a Warhammer-inspired artwork. A month ago, Sergei also showcased a highly detailed 3D rendition of Cerastus Chaos Knight, made using ZBrush, Maya, Substance 3D, RealityCapture, and UE5:
