Freelance 3D Artist Leo Torres, known to many for creating marvelous 3D environments, has recently unveiled a realistic recreation of Dawnstar, a cold and icy city from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Made by the artist to practice snow workflows and stress-test Lumen and Nanite, the scene, built using a mix of Megascans, third-party assets, and custom Blender-made assets, shows what Dawnstar would look like in real life and features an incredible Arctic atmosphere achieved with Volumetric Clouds and Fog. According to the artist, the town was remade in Unreal Engine 5 and is running dynamically at 40-45 FPS on the High preset on an RTX 3060 GPU.
Back in January, Environment Artist at Myrkur Games Christian Gomm also shared a neat UE5-powered recreation of one of Skyrim's locations. Utilizing photoscanned assets and materials, Megascans assets, and Substance materials, the artist recreated Riverwood, the first town we are likely to visit during the playthrough.
