3D Artist Reimagines Amsterdam as an Overwatch Map With UE5

Tuur Sangers showcased a stylized recreation of the Netherlands capital made using Maya and Substance 3D.

3D Environment Artist Tuur Sangers has presented Amsterdam Stylized Map, a non-photorealistic 3D scene that reimagines the capital of the Netherlands as a winter-themed playable map from Blizzard's Overwatch.

According to the project's description, the artist utilized Maya for modeling the buildings and other smaller props, Substance 3D Painter and Designer for texturing and creating materials, and Unreal Engine 5 for rendering and lighting. Additionally, Tuur used DaVinci Resolve to present the final environment. "After a long while from building a simple blockout to creating all the different buildings and composing all the shots, here is the reveal," commented the creator.

And here are some WiP shots shared by the artist, you can check out more by visiting Tuur's ArtStation page:

This scene, however, is not the first time Tuur impresses us with his digital art skills. Back in 2020, the artist already joined 80 Level to tell us about creating Rock Wall materials in Substance 3D Designer for the Skyblivion mod, breaking down Rockshape, Mortar, and Moss graphs, detailing the pipeline, and more. A few months ago, 3D Environment Artist Yiannis Bompotsis also drew inspiration from Overwatch and presented Greek Island, a great stylized 3D environment inspired by the game's Ilios map also made with Unreal Engine:

And here are some great tutorials from Stylized Station that will help you get started with NPR environment creation in Unreal:
