The sequence was set up using 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, and Corona Renderer.

Juliano Souza, a skilled 3D Artist capable of creating both realistic and stylized digital characters, has recently paid tribute to Nintendo's most recognizable protagonist/antagonist duo, showcasing a fluid animation that depicts Mario and Bowser gaming together.

Created as a fan-made project, the iconic characters and their gamepads were modeled, textured, animated, and rendered by hand using such programs as 3ds Max, ZBrush, Corona Renderer, Substance 3D Painter, Phoenix FD, After Effects, and Ornatrix. Additionally, Juliano leveraged assets from Quixel Bridge to set up the castle walls and lamps seen in the background.

What's more, the creator has also shared an insightful video breakdown showing how the project was made from start to finish:

And here are some still shots posted by Juliano over on ArtStation:

Previously, the artist also shared incredible portraits of Matt Osborne as Doink the Clown, Street Fighter's Chun-Li, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Mortal Kombat's Shang Tsung, and more. We highly encourage you to check out Juliano's full portfolio by clicking this link.
