Explore a Stylized Spanish City in This Free Unity-Made Indie Game

Former Blizzard artist Thiago Klafke presented his first solo game.

Thiago Klafke, a renowned 3D Environment Artist who previously worked on Blizzard's Overwatch 1 and 2, has recently unveiled Spanish Town, a relaxing exploration experience designed to help you escape the overwhelming experience of modern life, even if just for a short time.

Describing the project as his first solo-made game ever, Thiago revealed that Spanish Town was originally started as a way to document the production process and share it in the form of a comprehensive environment art tutorial dubbed Environment Art Mastery. The game itself offers immersive exploration and good vibes, allowing you to soak up the sights and sounds inspired by the real-life region of Andalucía in Southern Spain.

To model the assets featured in the experience, the artist utilized Maya, Substance 3D Designer, Substance 3D Painter, and xNormal, as well as Anastasia Ermakova's foliage props. As for the engine, the project was started in Unreal Engine but was eventually ported to Unity for the author to learn more about the engine and expand the gameplay possibilities of Spanish Town.

And here are some static renders depicting the beauty of Thiago's CG Andalucía:
