Valerii Kuznestov showcased his new artwork inspired by Thomas "Pilgrim" Butters' 3D model.
Despite appearances, what you see in the image above is not an embodiment of redneck engineering I nicked from r/Cursedgunimages, but rather an impressive realistic-looking 3D recreation of Rust's homing missile launcher, showcased recently by aspiring 3D Artist Valerii Kuznestov.
With a tris count of 16638, the model was created using a combination of ZBrush, Blender, Substance 3D Painter, and Marmoset Toolbag, along with Marvelous Designer used to create the pillow duct-taped to this bizarre bazooka. "It was a little difficult with texturing the metal, but overall I'm happy with the result," commented Valerii.
Compare it to the original missile launcher from Rust, designed by Paul Bradley and set up in 3D by a renowned Weapon Artist Thomas "Pilgrim" Butters with Blender, ZBrush, Marmoset Toolbag, Marvelous Designer, and Unity:
