On April 20, the Santa Monica team and all the fans of the God of War series marked a significant occasion – six years since the launch of God of War 2018.

To commemorate this milestone, the developer provided a sneak peek at the evolution of Týr's character from a mythical figure at the beginning of the Norse saga to a mentor in God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla.

One of the most interesting moments the studio shared was that its artists drew inspiration from Týr's statue at Týr's temple in the Lake of Nine in God of War (2018) while designing his spear and shield.

When animating Týr, Santa Monica's team intentionally mirrored Kratos' movements to highlight their shared history as war gods. The keywords 'poised', 'heavy', and 'standing tall' were key in maintaining Týr's consistency across four fighting styles.

Adding to that, every weapon wielded by Týr features a distinct musical accent influenced by its region of origin.
