Meet the Masters: Escape Studios Graduates on Their Career & Learning Journey

The Escape Studios team announced a new series of webinars 'Meet the Masters'. During these events, participants will have the opportunity to uncover the secrets of mastering their craft in the creative industries.

Since 2002, Escape Studios has been a leading provider of talented professionals for the animation, games, and visual effects industries. With over 4,000 alumni, Escape Studios has played a pivotal role in launching their careers and facilitating their subsequent success within the industry. They’ve worked on award-winning TV series such as Stranger Things and Obi-Wan Kenobi, along with Oscar and BAFTA-winning films such as DuneNo Time to Die1917InterstellarStar WarsEx Machina, and bestselling games Assassin’s CreedUncharted 2 and Forza Horizon.

The webinar series features three events, across three dates, with three different industry experienced speakers offering attendees the chance to gain valuable insights. You’ll hear from alumni who studied with Escape Studios and have gone onto master their craft in the creative industries, working with impressive studios on major films, games and TV shows. 

  • Tuesday, 25th July: Nicholas Illingworth, FX Supervisor at WETA, VFX Escapee.

Nicholas is an FX Supervisor known for his work on James Cameron's upcoming Avatar sequels. He possesses an extensive understanding of Visual Effects and the intricacies of the film-making process. His career spans many film and television productions, for renowned studios such as Weta Digital, Double Negative, Moving Picture Company (MPC), and Framestore CFC.

During the webinar on 25th July, Nicolas will share his experience of studying Advanced 3D for VFX and his career journey, so you can follow in his footsteps.
  • Tuesday, 1st August: Aidan Lonergan, Character Creature Creation Tutor at Escape Studios. Previously, Rigging Artist at MPC, Animation Escapee.

After studying MArt The Art of Computer Animation, Aidan’s industry experience includes Rise | Visual Effects StudiosFactory 42, an immersive and television content production studio and MPC, one of the UK's longest-established VFX and animation houses, where he worked as a Rigging Artist.

Aidan returned to Escape Studios this year and is the course leader for the MA Character and Creature Creation degree. He knows exactly what it takes to break into industry and will share his expertise during the webinar on 1st August.

  • Tuesday, 8th August: Emanuele Celli, Senior Environment Artist at Double 11, Game Art Escapee.

Currently, Emanuele and his team have joined forces with Bethesda Game Studios to collaboratively create new content for the latest game in one of their biggest franchises, Fallout 76.

Previously, Emanuele studied MA Game Art at Escape Studios and then worked as a Studio Assistant for the course, occasionally getting the chance to give modeling lessons for undergraduate Game Art students too.

"In this talk (actually, I'd like to think of this more as a friendly chat), I'll try to give you a general understanding of what you’re going to learn if you will choose to study here at Escape Studios. I’ll demystify how a Junior Artist can get into the industry, and we leave some time at the end of the call for your questions.", says Emanuele.
