The studio plans to use the funds to grow the team and continue to develop their tech.
Mountaintop Studios has shared the news that they raised $30 Million from a set of investors who share their vision for Mountaintop. Jon Lai at Andreessen Horowitz led the funding round with participation from investors all across the industry, including Spark Capital, Founders Fund, and Detroit Venture Partners. Jon Lai, a Game Developer at Riot and a publisher at Tencent joined the Mountaintop board. The studio plans to use this round of funding "...to grow the team, continue to develop a world-class tech stack, and bring our first title to players everywhere."
Mountaintop Studios was founded last year by Oculus co-founder Nate Mitchell and former colleague Matt Hansen. The studio is composed of developers who worked at Naughty Dog, Epic Games, Respawn, Double Fine, Hidden Path, and Ensemble.
"We continue to carefully design our culture to maximize creativity, drawing on wisdom and experience from both games and tech. By keeping the team small and focused on a single project, we move faster, collaborate more effectively, and empower everyone to make better decisions," comments Mountaintop on their upcoming project.
