Player Runs Red Dead Redemption 2 on Smartphone

It's hard to watch but it works.

Player Serg Pavlov managed to launch Red Dead Redemption 2 on a REDMAGIC 9 Pro smartphone, and the fact itself is a huge feat. It even runs better than expected (well, mostly because I didn't expect it to run on a phone at all), but you wouldn't be able to play for long because "better than expected" is actually 5-15 FPS.

More(less?)over, this setup boasts countless texture bugs and stuttering sound, so Pavlov deemed it unplayable, even though you can technically start the game's older (v1311.23) version, which he demonstrated in the video. Unfortunately, the latest update is impossible to test on a phone, at least using what Pavlov did – the Mobox tool to run Windows applications in Termux using Box64 and Wine.

Pavlov enjoys testing popular games on the smartphone, and Red Dead Redemption 2 joined Max Payne 3, Tekken 7, and Horizon Zero Dawn on the list of unplayable titles. There is a whole table with experiments here if you're interested. Better yet, check out Pavlov's YouTube channel for more.

REDMAGIC 9 Pro is a gaming smartphone with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, capable of supporting many games, but not always those meant for PCs and consoles, although there are some in the list above that have next to no issues and run at 60+ FPS.
