While employees at Sega of America are marking a big milestone within the industry by ratifying a union contract and making significant steps to protect themselves from potential layoffs, other Sega divisions are hit with job cuts.

According to the lastest information, Sega will lay off 240 employees, impacting staff at Creative Assembly, Sega Europe, and Sega HARDLight. The company attributed this decision to securing the future of its gaming business and adapting to economic conditions.

With the most significant impact seen at Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, Sega HARDLight, which focuses on mobile games, experienced fewer cuts.

Adding to the mentioned above, Relic Entertainment, the developer behind the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, revealed its departure from Sega, now operating as an independent entity.

Despite the transition, Relic assured ongoing support for all games, including the upcoming release of update 1.6 for Company of Heroes 3 in April. The update is set to introduce new content and gameplay features requested by the fan community.

Thus, Sega is the last one to join the list of companies downsizing its staff to "streamline" the processes.
