The Concept & Future of Metaverse Explained in an Upcoming Book

Once Upon Tomorrow is a soon-to-be-published tome by Shurick Agapitov that describes the idea of a decentralized metaverse free from corporate dominance.

Although the notion and concept of a metaverse have been out in the open for years at this point, it remains a considerable challenge for many to define what it actually is and envision its real-life application.

Complicating matters further, the very idea of a metaverse has now become closely associated with the 2021 surge of NFT scams and Silicon Valley's unsuccessful attempts to construct a metaverse, which, instead of uniting virtual realms, lost certain companies billions of dollars. These factors, compounded by the overuse of the term "metaverse" as a buzzword by various publications in the early 2020s, have solidified a negative perception of the metaverse among many individuals.

Looming on the horizon, however, is the release of a brand-new book that seeks to bust the prevailing myths surrounding the subject matter and propose the idea of a decentralized, interoperability-driven metaverse free from corporate dominance.

Introducing "Once Upon Tomorrow," an upcoming publication authored by the Founder of a video game payments firm, Xsolla, Aleksandr "Shurick" Agapitov, that dives deep into what the metaverse is and what it will become. In his book, the author discussed the past, present, and future of the Internet, arguing that the metaverse will be a transformative paradigm shift that will reshape human interaction, storytelling, and commerce and not merely a glorified VRChat.

Central to Agapitov's vision is a call for a free and decentralized metaverse devoid of singular corporate or individual control. This vision challenges the hegemony of tech giants like Google, Meta, Apple, and Microsoft, offering creators the autonomy to shape the digital landscape according to their own visions and aspirations.

"In Once Upon Tomorrow, I present a vision of the metaverse as a vast, inclusive, and transformative space," commented Agapitov. "It's not just a digital frontier but a realm where creativity, innovation, and empowerment converge. This book is my invitation to creators, thinkers, and dreamers across the globe to join in shaping a future where technology amplifies human potential and fosters a world of limitless possibilities."

The book is set to hit the digital shelves on March 5, 2024. You can learn more about Once Upon Tomorrow and pre-order the book here.
