Trends in Games, Esports, and Mobile to Follow in 2021

NewZoo published a new report with key trends in three entertainment segments that will worth watching in 2021.

NewZoo has been working on a series of reports, covering up trends in 2021 to watch in three segments — games, esports, and mobile. To make it easier for you, Tom Wijman from NewZoo gathered all the information together and gave a structured overview of trends with comments on each one.

For instance, in the games segment, the predictions show that engagement and revenues in the industry will continue to go up even when the pandemic will be over. Alongside the revenue growth, cloud gaming and gaming-as-a-platform will grow even more and get a bigger audience outside the gaming industry. However, next-gen consoles will face challenges in manufacturing.

The Esports segment will get the boost in the mobile esports, while traditional sports will continue working on integrating esports experience into the industry. Non-gaming content, at the same time, becomes even more popular on streaming platforms.

When it comes to mobile gaming, 5G will be distributed broadly and will become a feature of 16% of smartphones. More AAA games will feature a mobile version as well. And the game distribution model will also go under big changes with individual games, new publishers, and technology.
