Check Out This Atmospheric Swamp Environment Made in Unreal Engine 5

Pasquale Scionti showcased a new outstanding environment that captivates you with its eerieness.

Pasquale Scionti, a Principal Lighting/Lookdev Artist and one of the most prolific Environment Artists the world has ever seen, strikes again by sharing a couple of demos showcasing a marvelous new 3D scene powered by Unreal Engine 5.

Delve deep into The Dark Swamps, a WIP environment that captivates you with its eerie ambiance, depicting a lonely hut amidst a windy marshland during a raging storm. Created using UE5.3, the scene's lighting setup relies on the combination of HDR and Directional Light, along with physically-based light values. Additionally, Pasquale employed Dmitry Karpukhin's Sky Creator, a renowned plug-in that enables one to control dynamic weather and time of day in Unreal Engine, to set up fog and rain.

The most recent showcase also features a medieval-looking character and a simple UI, hinting that Pasquale's goal for this project might be to set up an RPG prototype with striking graphics:

Scionti is a master of detailed environment art, as you can see from our interview with him and his ArtStation. There are a lot of amazing pieces in his portfolio, including an abandoned mansion, a Death Stranding-inspired scene, a cool apartment, an even cooler winter environment, a planet inspired by Starfield, a Silent Hill-like game prototype, a spooky hospital scene, and many more.
