The new version introduces the reenvisioned Shader Tree, the new Wrap Effector, and other tools to elevate modeling workflow.

Foundry released Modo 16.0 – an update to its 3D modeling and rendering software. It offers over 20 new features and enhancements.

Two of them are Primitive Slice and the Slice Effector tools, which allow quick creation and iteration of boolean modeling from curves and profiles. Foundry extended the capabilities and interactivity of the tools "to expand the freedom of design exploration."

Another change is the new Wrap Effector, which combines Lattice and Wrap deformers and improves deformation precision.

Action-based animations can now be exported in bulk.

The new Conditional Loop tool allows you to control how loops are selected, enabling selecting part of an edge loop.

As for procedural modeling, Modo's Bridge, Edge Subdivide, and Ruler tools are now available as MeshOps.

Additionally, MeshFusion got an automated Variable Strip Width system, which helps adjust the start and end values of a strip to ensure that a mesh can be generated.

Shader Tree has also been updated and now offers "visualization of blend modes and opacity," as well as a graphic that describes how a group is masking its contents.

To improve the workflow, Auto Set Layer Effects automatically determines image effects based on file names.

Moreover, Modo introduces conditional commands that let you define a condition that then automatically calls a command; for example, Modo can activate the vertex bevel tool every time you click on vertex mode.

Other improvements include Rhino 7 support, easier snapping mode, and Non-Photorealistic Rendering (NPR) 2 Kit now included for free for users with an active Modo 16 license.

Modo 16.0 is available for $68/month or $689/year. See the full list of changes here and don't forget to join our new Reddit pageour new Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we are sharing breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
