Realistic Rain Simulation Created With Houdini 20

Jafar Dashtinejad experimented with the latest version of Houdini and shared the results.

In case you missed it, last month, SideFX officially released Houdini 20, a massive update to its flagship procedural 3D software, enhancing major tools like Karma, Solaris, KineFX, and others and introducing a slew of new features for 3D Artists and Developers to delve into.

Jafar Dashtinejad, a Senior FX TD and Key FX Artist at MPC, has recently experimented with the latest version of Houdini, utilizing the upgraded application to create an incredible rain simulation. According to the artist, the simulation was set up using Houdini 20's enhanced Ripple Solver and POP Solver, along with the new USD workflow and updated Karma renderer. Additionally, the artist utilized Megascans assets to set up the 3D environment.
