Fluid Flux Developer Teases an Upcoming Update

Krystian Komisarek has shared one more look at the soon-to-be-released update for the Fluid Flux add-on for Unreal Engine.

Game Developer and Programmer Krystian Komisarek, who last week demonstrated a neat real-time waterfall simulation, showcasing the soon-to-be-released update for Fluid Flux, a powerful water system for Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5 based on 2D shallow-water fluid simulations, has shared one more sneak peek at the upcoming release.

With a short demo shared via Twitter, the developer showed one more demo map from the update, demonstrating "boat buoyancy and ripple solver on top of wave profiles" that one will be able to set up with the upgraded version of Fluid Flux. You can check out the full demo attached above or by visiting Krystian's Twitter page.

And here's a list of the update's new features and improvements, shared by the developer with the earlier demo:

  • Better simulation quality on slopes.
  • Added color profile and surface painter.
  • New simulation parameters and improved ground rendering tools.
  • Improved caustics on slopes.
  • Unified underwater shader based on my custom SLW material mode.
  • Time day and skylight support.
  • New water surface mesh rendering mode based on Niagara mesh tiles (128x128).
  • Underwater dust calculated in camera space.
